XL Fortran for AIX 8.1
Language Reference
Square root.
 X
must be of type real or complex. Unless X is complex, its value
must be greater than or equal to zero.
Class
Elemental function
Result Type and Attributes
Same as X.
Result Value
It has a value equal to the square root of X.
If the result type is complex, its value is the principal value with the
real part greater than or equal to zero. If the real part is zero, the
imaginary part is greater than or equal to zero.
Examples
SQRT (4.0) has the value 2.0.

Notes:
IBM Extension: the ability to pass the name as an argument.
Given that X is a complex number in the form a + bi, where
i = (1)^{½}, abs(X) + abs(a) must be less than or
equal to 1.797693 * 10^{308}.
