hydra2 latest C/C++/Fortran patches on 09/08/2009

hydra2 will receive the latest round of patches for the AIX compilers, C/C++ V10.1 and Fortran V12.1, on Tue, 09/08/2009. Hydra2 node will be unavailable for interactive and batch processing starting as early as 9:00AM on the same date. Maintenance is expected to last until noon. Hydra2 will be rebooted on the same date.

We urge the users who are developing or porting code onto Hydra to try out the AIX compilers with the latest patches on hydra2. Report to us any case where the new compiler or your code behaves in an undesired manner vs. the current compilers.

The current AIX compilers on node hydra and the rest of the Hydra cluster will remain un-patched. If no major issues surface during a user-testing period of two months, we will propagate the latest AIX compilers' patches to the rest of the Hydra cluster.

Your feedback on testing the patched AIX compilers on hydra2 would thus be very important.
