New supercomputing class: Basic Code Profiling
Posted on: 12:28 PM, October 19, 2009
TAMU Supercomputing Facility is providing this semester a new
supercomputing short course class named Basic Code Profiling.
This is a two-day short course on basic code profiling. During each of the two
days the material covered is different and, to a significant extent, interdependent.
You will learn basic code profiling concepts, techniques, and utilities that will
enable you to properly assess the performance of your codes. In particular, you will
learn how to use the performance profiling toolkits gprof, IPM, and TAU on HYDRA,
our 832-core Power5+ based p5 IBM cluster. We will illustrate through a concrete
example how profiling can lead to code optimization.
Course: Basic Code Profiling
Dates: October 21, 22
Time: 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm
Location: Evans Library Annex
Education Media Center Room 417C
