Welcome to the TAMU High Performance Research Computing web site. This page is intended to quickly guide new users to:

We make available several hardware resources to our users:
- Ada, our IBM NeXtScale cluster that runs Linux on nodes with the Intel IvyBridge and Westmere processors. There are also 30 nodes with NVIDIA Tesla GPUs and 9 nodes with Intel PHIs. This is currently our main computational resource.
- Terra, our Lenovo x86-64 cluster that runs Linux on dual socket nodes with Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 2.40GHz 14-core processors. There are also 48 nodes with an NVIDIA K80 accelerator.
- Curie, our IBM Power7+ cluster that runs Linux on nodes with IBM Power7+ processors.
- Several HPRC Lab Linux workstations for pre- and post-processing needs.
Once you have access to the HPRC clusters and workstations, there is a variety of pre-installed software available. See the Available Software page for more information.
NOTE: We are unable to provide support for software not installed on our clusters. Furthermore, our ability to provide advanced support for the installed software is limited. If you have a problem, please ask - we will try to find a solution or support contact for you.
Requesting an Account
The computer systems managed by HPRC are available for use to university faculty, staff, and students who require large-scale computing capabilities. Access to and use of such systems is permitted only for academic research and instructional activity. All other use is strictly prohibited without the approval of the High Performance Research Computing allocation committee. Consult our policies page for more information.
After activating your accounts, consult our guide for accessing our resources. If you are new to working in a Unix or Linux environment, consult our introduction to UNIX and our guide to basic Unix commands.
Once logged into our resources, consult the README file in your home directory for an introduction to our systems. For more information, please consult our user guides for our systems.
Training, Documentation, and Consulting

New users are strongly encouraged to attend our shortcourses which are typically offered during the spring and fall semesters. We also provide and maintain a set of user guides with more in-depth information about using each system and other documentation that should be useful for all of our systems. If you run into any trouble, we also have a FAQ page with some of the most common issues we see and their solutions. If you need assistance with using our systems, our helpdesk is available during normal business.
